God invites us to take part in caring for each other and creation. Serving within and beyond the congregation helps build up the body of Christ and meet the needs of our neighbors.
Member Care Team
This amazing team works alongside our pastors to care for the congregation. Do you enjoy and find meaning in helping with visitation, prayer, and checking on people on our prayer chain? If so, you may want to learn more about being part of the Member Care Team. Contact Cindy Struchen through the church office (830-693-2253 / lutheran@splcmf.org) for more information.
Home Communion Team
As a eucharistic minister, you extend the communion table from the sanctuary into the hands of people who are homebound or in nursing facilities. Volunteers are partnered together and provided a short liturgy to lead before distributing wafers and wine. Do you enjoy or find meaning in helping folks worship from home in tasting and and seeing that the Lord is good? If so, you may want to learn more about being part of the Home Communion Team. Contact Cindy Struchen through the church office (830-693-2253 / lutheran@splcmf.org) for more information.
Prayer Ministry Team
St. Peter’s Prayer Ministry is an intercessory prayer group. This group prays not only for the church prayer list, but also prays for additional requests and concerns that are confidential. Members of the Prayer Ministry Team receive information by email weekly and pray individually when it is convenient for them. If you have prayer concerns or requests and/or if you feel called to be part of this important ministry, contact Janette Clausen through the church office (830-693-2253 / lutheran@splcmf.org). On January 29, 2023, Christine Veres gave a Ministry Moment in worship on the Prayer Ministry Team. CLICK HERE to listen to her share her experience of being on the team as well as the power of prayer in her life.
Snip-Its Quilt Group
The Snip-Its Quilt Group provides handmade quilts for the global ministry of Lutheran World Relief (www.lwr.org). Quilts are stitched year-round and collected once a year at nationally organized events called “Ingatherings.” Our goal is a minimum of 100 quilts annually, and we meet on the third and fifth Tuesdays of the month from 9:00-12:00 p.m. in the ‘Quilting Rooms’ in the Treehouse. We welcome new stitchers and ‘knot-tiers’!!! Organized by Judy M.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Do you love to knit or crochet or want to learn? The Prayer Shawl Ministry provides handmade wraps to bring God’s love, comfort, and peace to those in need. In other words, the shawls provide “hugs” from God. It meets once a month at the church. Organized by Audrey G.
The Green Team
This team helps our congregation care for creation by organizing a recycling drive, trash pick-up, caring for church grounds, planning for guest speakers, special projects, etc. Join us in nurturing our relationship with God and others through caring for creation. Contact Tracy Knight through the church office (830-693-2253 / lutheran@splcmf.org) for more information.
St. Peter’s Blessings
This ministry provides food to local children who may not have easy access to the amount of food they need. Volunteers meet weekly to pack food that the children will take home for the weekend.
Meals on Wheels Cookies
St. Peter’s provides homemade or purchased cookies that are part of the hot meals which are delivered to homebound people in the community. Bring the cookies to the church every Friday before the third Saturday of the month.
Providing Food for Funerals
By helping provide food for funerals, we become the presence of God for others in their time of loss. If you would be willing to provide food for a funeral/memorial service or would be willing to call those who would like to help provide food, you would be a blessing to people during a difficult time.
Help with Special Event Meals
Many stories of Jesus include him eating with others, and those meals were the setting for life-changing conversations and experiences. By helping serve meals at special events, you can help make those life-changing conversations and experiences possible for others, including for yourself!
Help with Driving
Have wheels and some extra time? Some church members occasionally need assistance getting to doctor’s appointments.
Help with Meals for Ill or Homebound People
Everyone has to eat, but sometimes preparing meals can be challenging. Consider lending a hand by preparing meals for church members recovering from surgery.
The Helping Center
The Helping Center provides vital community services to local residents, especially for people who are food insecure. On the first Sunday of the month, we bring forward a grocery cart of food that has been collected, bless it, and then deliver the items to the Helping Center. Prior to the first Sunday, a list of needed food is shared via the Thursday email.
Church Office Help
Volunteers can help by assembling bulletins, preparing newsletters for being mailed, answering phones, etc. Some tasks occur weekly, monthly, or as needed for special occasions. The office staff are a fun group to work with, and your help would be incredibly valuable!
School Volunteer
You can help create a high-quality learning environment by supporting students and teachers. Tasks vary according to season.
Buildings and Grounds
Our building and grounds are a gift from God, and we take pride in maintaining and stewarding these gifts. Tasks for the church and school facilities are always changing, but we likely have something for any level of experience.
Tellers
Tellers are responsible for counting and recording the Sunday offerings after the late service on either Sunday after worship or on Monday. Teams of two will do this together.

- Superkids is a creative ministry that includes music, acting, and art for children from 3-years old through fifth grade.
