“The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
St. Peter’s believes that joyful giving is an essential aspect of discipleship. Whether we give electronically each month, or in the offering during worship each week, we are reminded to give cheerfully not begrudgingly. We bring offerings thankfully recognizing that all we give has been first given from God.
St. Peter’s believes that stretching in our giving is an essential element to growing faith. We don’t stretch our giving to pay the bills but rather to stretch our total dependence on God. We don’t give because the church needs it but rather because God needs and wants all of us.
